Nissan Interstar Low Loader Review

November 17th, 2022

The Nissan Interstar Low Loader at a glance

Once again, Nissan proves that they are far more than just a car manufacturer with the Interstar: yet another well-equipped large commercial van. Benefitting from a variety of cab types and model-specific features, there are a multitude of major selling points to this bulky yet efficient vehicle. Amongst a number of variants – including Panel, Tipper, Dropside and Luton – the Nissan Interstar Low Loader offers a versatile and practical choice to those looking for a long-wheelbase van. As the box van variation of the popular Nissan Interstar model, its sturdy body boasts a high payload and cargo length, making it great for light removals or bulky deliveries. If you require a large van with enhanced storage capabilities for the transporting of weighty or sizable loads, the Nissan Interstar Low Loader could be the right van for you.

Engines and Spec

The Interstar Low Loader contains a 2.5-litre diesel engine, available in both 110PS and 135PS – providing more than enough horsepower to help you navigate busy city streets. The seating capacity is 3-person as standard, though one of the many optional features will allow your vehicle to come kitted out with additional seats if you require them. If you’re unsure about the use of a diesel vehicle and would like to opt for something more sustainable, the Interstar Low Loader is also available as an electric vehicle in the form of the e-Interstar.

Loading and Exterior

Given that it’s a large commercial van, the Nissan Interstar Low Loader has a surprisingly stylised exterior – particularly the curved Luton-style roof that adorns the cab. Whilst this does unfortunately mean that you get the Luton design without any of the added storage benefits, it still offers a more aesthetically pleasing look.

The Interstar Low Loader L3 model is capable of seamlessly carrying a maximum payload of up to 1162kg for its front-wheel drive option and 1012kg for the rear-wheel drive – both impressive numbers for a van of this size. This weight, combined with a rear door measurement of 2105 x 2165mm, means that even the trickiest of loads can be fitted and transported in a hassle-free manner.

As with all Low Loaders, Interstar’s version presents its users with the opportunity to efficiently load cargo that is difficult to lift from the ground. This makes it a great option for tradespeople who require an exceptionally large storage area but don’t want to invest in a vehicle with a tail lift.

Interior

Whilst the Interstar Low Loader certainly prioritises convenience over style in its cab – the dashboard is rather simplistic, for instance – it still has some neat features. Features such as DAB radio integration, adjustable seats and an interactive driver interface are all included to make long journeys more bearable.

We’ve touched upon the fact that the Interstar Low Loader’s storage capacity is one of its biggest advantages, but this doesn’t just stop at its rear loading area. With a large pull-out tray and generous door panel storage, the cab helps to enhance the already strong practicality of this van.
